About this deck
This deck lists the sovereign countries generally counted as European, in alphabetical order, with the country on the front and the capital on the back. It includes the microstates (Andorra, Liechtenstein, Monaco, San Marino, Vatican City) and Kosovo, which is recognized by many but not all countries.
Countries that straddle Europe and Asia and are often grouped with Asia, such as Türkiye, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan, are left out; Russia and Cyprus are included because they are most often listed with Europe. For those, see the world capitals deck.
Use it for geography classes, quiz practice or before a trip around Europe.
Study tips
- Study by region: Nordic, Baltic, Western, Central, Balkan and Mediterranean countries.
- Pay attention to the Balkans; their capitals (Ljubljana, Zagreb, Sarajevo, Belgrade, Podgorica, Pristina, Skopje, Tirana) are a common weak spot.
- Remember the capitals that share their country's name: Luxembourg, Monaco, San Marino, Vatican City.
- Learn local spellings too: Kyiv, Chișinău, Bucharest (București), Prague (Praha).
