About this deck
The first 13 cards cover each of Canada's ten provinces and three territories, from west to east and then north. The back gives the capital and the two-letter postal abbreviation.
A few extra cards cover the national capital and some quick facts that often come up alongside provinces and capitals, such as the largest and most populous provinces.
The deck fits Canadian elementary social studies, the Canadian citizenship test, and travelers or newcomers who want a quick overview of the country.
Study tips
- Learn the provinces west to east (BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, then the Atlantic provinces); the cards follow that order.
- Remember that Ontario's capital is Toronto but the national capital, Ottawa, is also in Ontario.
- Do not confuse St. John's, the capital of Newfoundland and Labrador, with Saint John, a city in New Brunswick. New Brunswick's capital is Fredericton.
- Practice with a blank map of Canada to tie each name to a location.
