About this deck

A starter set of 100 high-use Spanish words: greetings, question words, people, food, places, time, common verbs and adjectives. The Spanish word is on the front and the English meaning is on the back.

Nouns include their article (el or la) so you learn the gender along with the word. Verbs are given in the infinitive. Adjectives are shown in the masculine singular form.

The deck is for absolute beginners and for anyone returning to Spanish after a break. Turn on audio to hear each word read aloud.

Study tips

  • Always learn a noun with its article. "La mano" and "el día" break the usual -o/-a pattern.
  • Say each word aloud before you flip. Spanish spelling is very regular, so reading aloud reinforces pronunciation.
  • After a session, write three short sentences using the words you just reviewed.
  • Study Spanish → English first, then flip the deck; producing the Spanish word is harder and builds stronger recall.

Frequently asked questions

›Is this Spanish from Spain or Latin America?

These words are shared across Spanish-speaking countries. Where usage differs (for example "coche" vs "carro" for car), the card notes both.

›Why are nouns shown with el or la?

Every Spanish noun has a grammatical gender that affects articles and adjectives. Learning the article with the noun saves effort later.

›What should I learn after these 100 words?

Regular verb conjugation in the present tense. The Spanish verbs deck in this library is a good next step.
